The Lady (achi) Chokyi Drolma was a Central Tibetan native born in the 11th century and devoted to spiritual practice her entire life. She looked for and married a good man because she believed that her children and future generations would accomplish great things. Her four sons went on to achieve greatness as a scholar or ascetics. She once led a sacramental feast turning a human corpse into a sacred offering in front of her numerous students in front of a large cave where she practiced Tantra herself and was a great teacher in her own right. Invoking herself as a protector deity in a liturgy, she vowed to defend Buddhism at the time.
