Buddha Of Medicine Also Bhaisajyaguru, Deity Statue
This wonderful deity statue of Buddha of medicine, also Bhaisajyaguru, is handcrafted by a Nepali artist. It is gilded with 24k gold and embedded with precious stones. He has a begging bowl full of long-life nectar in his lap, and his left hand is in the meditation mudra. His right hand is in a generous gesture, holding the "great medicine," the myrobalan plant, indicating that he protects from illness.
His robe is highly patterned and draped all over his body. The magnificent halo behind him, studded with precious stone and surrounded by patterned gold design, gives the statue a divine look.

In Tibetan Kangyur, three sutras are dedicated to the Buddha of Medicine. The twelve ambitions of the Buddha of Medicine are outlined in one sutra, the seven other medicine buddhas' ambitions are outlined in another, and the dharanis or mantras of the countless Buddhas of treatment are outlined in the third sutra. He's also a prominent figure in the Four Medical Tantras, which form the basis for Tibetan medicine and different therapeutic sadhanas.
