Dukar Statue, Also known as Sitatapatra, Tibetan Buddhist Art
This is a nice statue of Dukar. A beautiful hand-carved sitatapatra statue is bejeweled with turquoise and coral. The artist has done fine carvings on her silk garments and the disc behind her. It is gold gilded and made using ancient statue-making techniques from Kathmandu.
She is an invincible protector against every form of supernatural danger, such as demons, black magic, and astrologically ordained mishaps.
The parasol after which she is named is not an ordinary umbrella. It is a large, white silken canopy that serves as a symbol of a high rank. As a sign of royalty and divinity.
