Dzambhala Statue, Kubera Buddhist Sculpture
The artist from Kathmandu made the statue with 24k gold gilded. Dzambhala, also known as Kubera, is seated with his right leg drawn in and his left leg in the periphery in this Buddhist sculpture. With an arrogant frown on its face, a Bodhisattva's crown, diamonds, and a grossly swollen tummy, the artist adorned this statue as royal. His mongoose Nehulay, which he holds in his left hand, is his most distinguishing feature. Nehulay, constantly spitting gorgeous gems and wealth, represents Dzambhala's destruction over the nagas (snakes). Medical citron fruits, which offer medicinal benefits such as fever reduction, are present in his right hand and at the foot of the statue.
