Traditionally Hand-Carved Vajrasattva Statue for Meditation and Ritual
We created this stunning gold-gilded statue of Vajrasattva statue in our studio using a traditional Himalayan carving technique passed down from generation to generation. This statue was hand-carved out of copper and gilded in gold. The Bodhisattva can be seen in his customary placid and tranquil demeanor, seated on a moon disc lotus seat and in the lotus position. He has a vajra, which represents the impermanence and constancy of reality, in his right hand and a bell, which stands for emptiness and the sound of wisdom, in his left hand. Beautiful gems adorn the Buddha's body.

Vajrasattva is the second patriarch in the Shingon Buddhist lineage, the first being Vairocana Buddha. According to Kukai's writings in Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna encountered Vajrasatva in an iron tower in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's testimony. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva inducted Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai doesn't go into detail on Vajrasatva or his beginnings.
