Green Tara Statue, Female Buddha Himalayan Art
Green Tara, A Female Buddha also known as "Shyamatara" in Sanskrit, was believe to be the incarnated as a Nepali princess. This beautiful Mother Green Tara sculpture was hand-carved by skilled artists based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our artisans have been sculpting Buddhist deities for generations, and it is a sacred art form with deep meaning. This particular statue took months to complete and was sculpted on a copper body gilded in 24k gold.
She is depicted seated on a lotus with her legs crossed and her right leg outstretched and ready to spring into action, wearing beautiful bodhisattva ornaments and holding a closed blue lotus (utpala). Green Tara's left hand is in the mudra of refuge, while her right hand is attempting to make a giving gesture.
Tara is also depicted with eyes on the soles of her feet and the palms of her hands at times.
