In Buddhism, Manjushri is a Bodhisattva. He is known as the Wisdom Buddha. In Sanskrit, his name means "Gentle Glory." We Tibetans refer to him as Jamphel Yang. He is the embodiment of Prajna Wisdom. Prajna Wisdom is supposed to be the teacher and mother of all buddhas. According to the Lord Buddha, Manjushri was his teacher in a previous incarnation.
