Ksitigarbha is one of the four main bodhisattvas in East Asian Mahayana Buddhism. In Buddhist iconography, he is typically depicted with a shaved head and monk's robes. He is frequently depicted standing on a lotus pedestal, symbolizing his release from the cycle of rebirth. Ksitigarbha's face and head are idealized because of his elongated ears and other buddha features.
