Mahaguru Rinpoche Statue, Himalayan Buddhist Art
This magnificent Himalayan Buddhist art statue portrays Mahaguru Rinpoche. A Nepali craftsman in Kathmandu made this Guru Rinpoche statue out of copper and gilded it 24K gold. Wearing a lotus cap, he appears like a monarch. He wields a Vajra with five sharp blades in his right hand and a skullcap containing an immortality vase. The heavenly staff symbolized a king sitting on his left elbow. The trident is crafted meticulously to capture all Guru Rinpoche's characteristics. The trident with three heads with a trishool on top. He wears exquisite robes adding to the pattern's visual appeal.

Guru Rinpoche flew to the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave on the back of Yeshe Tsogyal, a semi-mythical female deity. He changed her into a flying tigress for the voyage; according to mythology Guru Rinpoche is supposed to have meditated in a site near the cave that later became the famed Tiger's Nest monastery.
