Handmade Buddhist Sculpture of Wrathful Deity Mahakala Bernagchen
The Black Cloak is another name for Mahakala Bernagchen. He is regarded as the personal guardian of the Karmapas by the Karma Kagyu lineage leaders. We handcrafted this intricate Mahakala Bernagchen Sculpture in our studio using techniques passed down through generations of ancient sacred Buddhist deity sculptors. He holds his signature chopper in his right hand, symbolizing the slashing of opposing forces and emotions. He also carries a skull cup in the other hand, which is usually full of blood
This antique finish Mahakala statue is iconographically correct and has all of the necessary features for Vajrayana practices.

Mahakala, the archetype and protector, can be of essential help, like a fearsome warrior ally, if one chooses to wage war with one's ego and negative aspects in the process of opening up the Buddha-nature, which is the non-ego, non-self, non-soul, pure and omniscient "clear light" nature of all beings. The wrathful form of Mahakala is compassion personified and expressed as the power that can be harnessed and turned against the incredibly wily, stubborn, subtle, and stealthy enemy–the self-inflicted ego.
