In the 7th-8th centuries CE, Mahasiddha Virupa, the Lord of All Yogis, was born into a royal family in east India. Later, he gave up his royal life to become a monk. At the temple of Somapuri in India, he received ordination from the abbot Vinayadeva and the teacher Jayakirti. He constructed a modest stone temple filled with depictions of the Triple Gem, which purified his parents' obscurations. Virupa kept the Chakrasamvara practice at night while teaching the Sutrayana, disputing, and writing Dharma books during the day. He did this for a long time without seeing any results or achieving any goals. On the contrary, he ran into a slew of misfortunes and got disillusioned with his profession.
