Orgyen Menla Statue Also K/A Guru Rinpoche Of Medicine, Bhaisajyaguru
Orgyan Menla is a unique aspect of Guru Rinpoche, who emerges as Bhaisajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha. He has a slightly wrathful expression on the statue with two penetrating eyes. He sits in the royal-ease lotus with many petals position, with his left leg brought up and his right leg slightly extended. He wears robes with intricate patterns and valuable corals inlaid in them. His blue hair falls loosely about his shoulders, and he wears golden earrings, bracelets, and a necklace. He also wears leather boots with golden embellishments. Orgyan Menla displays the varada-mudra of extreme generosity with his right hand resting on his knee and his index and thumb gripping the blooming stem of the medicinal myrobalan. His left-hand rests in the dhyana-mudra lap, holding a skull cup with six myrobalan fruits and their leaves. He has his tantric staff, or khatvanga, in the curve of his left arm.
