Shakyamuni Buddha Statue In Seated Posture
In the statue, Seated with a calm and peaceful face in vajra posture on a lotus seat, Shakyamuni Buddha touches the ground with his right hand. This gesture depicted the moment when he summoned the earth to witness his transcendence of Mara. The world rocked and shook to mark Shakyamuni's Buddhahood. Shakyamuni holds his alms bowl in his left hand, resting on his lap in a meditation posture.
Shakyamuni Buddha is also known as Gautam Buddha. He is the first enlightened individual to be visualized. His goal was to free all people from suffering, and his awakening was the realization of effective means for teaching everybody the path to awakening.
