Shakyamuni Buddha Statue Also Known As Awakened One Deity
This deity statue of Awakened one, Shakyamuni Buddha, is handcrafted by a Nepali artist. His attributes are one face, half-closed eyelids, and hair piled on top of the head with a gold pendant at the crest. His earlobes are long and pierced. The right arm is stretched over the knee, fingertips touching the ground, in the earth witness mudra. The left hand is positioned palm upward in the lap in the mudra of meditation. The shoulders are covered with a highly patterned gold robe that drapes across the entire body and legs. The right arm is left bare in Buddhist monk tradition.

Siddharta lived a life of intense self-denial and discipline for six years. He thought he would gain the insight he needed to seek his answers by using these techniques. He was no closer to his aim after six years, his body so feeble and near to death, than when he began. Self-denial, he understood, was just as much of an obstacle to self-awakening as self-indulgence. He sat in profound meditation at the base of a fig tree after regaining his health. He awakened to the ultimate reality after clearing his thoughts of all distractions. He attained the title of Buddha, or "Awakened One." From then on, he is known as Shakyamuni Buddha, the Shakya clan's guru.
