Hand-Carved Oxidized Copper Statue of Maitreya Buddha
The statue of Maitreya Buddha is an intricately handcrafted piece produced in our studio and designed with unique Nepali motifs. The statue comprises full oxidized copper with intricate carvings done by our artists over the course of several months. The Future Buddha is depicted seated on an elaborately carved throne with a peaceful countenance and his feet resting on a lotus base. He can be seen portraying the 'Dharmachakra mudra,' a hand gesture symbolizing the transmission of Buddha's teaching. The intricate details fill the statue, and the additional colorful gemstones add to the overall aesthetic of the piece.

Maitreya, in the Buddhist tradition, the future Buddha, presently a bodhisattva residing in the Tushita heaven, who will descend to earth to preach the dharma (“law”) anew when the teachings of Gautama Buddha have completely decayed. Maitreya is the earliest Bodhisattva around whom a cult developed and is mentioned in scriptures from the 3rd century CE. He was accepted by all schools of Buddhism and is still the only bodhisattva generally honored by the Theravada tradition.
