The Buddhist Deity, White Tara Buddha Statue
The deity White Tara Buddha statue seated cross-legged on a lotus is hand-carved in the Buddhist tradition. Her seven eyes, the third eye on her forehead, the palms of her hands, and the soles of her feet are all unique features.
White Tara (also known as Dolma) is a female Buddha in the Buddhist tradition. White Tara manifests as a female bodhisattva and goddess for the welfare of all living beings. She was created, according to legend, from Avalokiteshvara tear that fell to the earth and formed a lake. From its waters, a lotus bloomed, which, when opened, revealed the goddess. She, like Avalokiteshvara, is a kind, soothing goddess who helps men "cross to the other shore."
